GBR (Guided Bone Regeneration) technique - Dental Implants Net

The guided bone regeneration (GBR) technique is used to facilitate bone regeneration when the bone thickness in the jaw is insufficient for implant placement.
After implant placement, the area of bone deficiency is packed with autogenous bone (i.e., the patient’s own bone) and/or an artificial bone replacement material and covered with a special membrane. When a large quantity of bone is needed, GBR is performed before implant placement.

Procedures

1.An implant is placed into the area of tooth loss. The implant body is exposed in cases of excessive bone loss.

2.Crushed autogenous bone or an artificial bone replacement material is placed into the area of bone loss and covered with an artificial membrane.

3.Although there are differences among individuals, the alveolar bone is regenerated and the implant can be stabilized within a period of 4 to 6 months.

An implant can be put in place at the same time as the lost bone and tissue are regenerated.
